Summer reading provides a way for students to remain intellectually engaged while away from school and to begin to reflect on the topics and questions they will study in their new courses. Texts are chosen for their relevance to course material and for the classic stories they tell. Students are expected to complete the reading before school begins. They will discuss their reading and will be assessed on it within the first two weeks of the school year. While the textbooks purchased for the academic year must be the same ISBN and edition listed on the booklist, any edition of summer reading texts is appropriate. To hone their skills and stay practiced in mathematics, students must also complete a packet of level-appropriate material for their math class. While these packets will not be graded, they must be completed and handed in on the first day of school; students are responsible for the summer review material. The 2007-2008 Booklist can be found here. Grade
