Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lead on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Daryth Wynn Jacob: April 29, 1987 - February 12, 2006

"I wish it need not have happened in my time,"
said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all that live to see such times.
But that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

-The Lord of the Rings,
Book I Chapter II

Daryth Wynn Jacob was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 29, 1987. The daughter and second of three children born to Neil and Laurie Jacob, Dary was God's gift to us, and her two brothers, Chapin and Charlie. From grades K through 5, she attended Hunnewell Elementary School at which point she was enrolled at the Montrose School in Natick from grades 6 through 12. At Montrose, Dary had a dedication to academic excellence, a passion for music, a disciplined spiritual life grounded upon a special devotion to Our Lady, and a deep love of her family, friends, and mentors.

An adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors led Dary to the American Youth Foundation. Over the course of five summers, Dary participated in numerous hiking, biking, and canoeing trips culminating in a 1,000 mile bike ride through Nova Scotia and a 100 mile hike peaking at the top of Mount Katahdin. Dary graduated Salutatorian at Montrose in the spring of 2005 and was accepted at Brown University for the Class of 2010.

Over the past year, Dary worked for the Mass Audubon summer camp program, earned her EMT certification, and served as a substitute teacher at Summit Montessori School. Dary unexpectedly passed away on February 12, 2006 after a ten day trip filled with joy and laughter. She profoundly impacted all who were touched by her incredible determination and spirit. She will eternally live on in our hearts and be the angel that guides our way.
