January 2008 Dear Montrose Current and Prospective Parents: Student Government set the theme of REACH for the 2007-2008 school year. With infectious enthusiasm, they have challenged students and faculty to aim high, reach far and become the best they can be. Montrosians are doing just that. To make Montrose in Medfield their own, each grade has taken on a Reach and Legacy Project—to develop various corners of the school. Our new high school Math Club, the Mathericks, and middle school MathCounts program have generated interest in innovative problem solving. Among our interdisciplinary initiatives, the Latin II class has joined forces with our physics teachers to build a catapult for the National Junior Classical League competition. Thanks to faculty initiative, physical science, chemistry and AP Biology are now laboratory-driven courses. The Juniors and Seniors will soon begin seminars in preparation for “In the Footsteps of Dante,” a study abroad program this March. Our athletic program has expanded to include club sports. Our Spirit of Service Club visits a local nursing home. And the Montrose Players are gearing up for the fall production, Twelve Angry Women. Our students are reaching high. They also have their feet firmly planted on the ground thanks to caring advisors, teachers, coaches, parents and an abiding faith in God. I hope our website acquaints you with Montrose School and our commitment to educating women of faith, character and vision. Please call to schedule a campus visit and meet the people who bring this mission to life each day. With warmest regards, Karen E.
