Montrose believes that education is the primary responsibility of parents and enlists their cooperation and support in helping each girl reach her potential.
   
To achieve this goal Montrose asks parents to:
• augment at home the virtues and ideals taught at school
• meet with their daughter's advisor twice a year
• support the school's programs and its development

The Parent to Parent Program at Montrose fosters friendship, communication, and cultural enrichment among new and veteran Montrose families. Parent to Parent sponsors social gatherings and guest speakers to support parents as they strive to fulfill their responsibilities as the primary educators of their children.

A Guide for Parents is the collaborative work of several Montrose parents. Raising women of faith, character, and vision is a great responsibility. The authors of this guide understand this and offer a unique, experienced perspective on parenting.

A wonderful resource, the guide covers everything from outlining the Montrose mission to explaining the role of parents in education. To receive a copy, please contact Mrs. Patricia Keefe in the Admissions Office.

 

The Mothers of Montrose School (MOMS) is a dynamic team of volunteers who lend their professional expertise, talent, and creativity to several Montrose events and traditions. They provide outstanding hospitality and fundraising support to important schoolwide and student led programs at Montrose.

The MOMS run the annual auction, special luncheons, the senior dinner and much, much more. For more information on participation in MOMS, please contact the Front Office and you will be directed to the co-presidents.

Adolescence: Raising Great Teens

Dr. Meeker is a pediatrician who specializes in teenage health issues. She is author of Epidemic: Raising Great Teens in a Toxic Sexual Culture (LifeLine Press 2004) and countless research articles on adolescent health. A highly sought after speaker and consultant, she is a member of the National Institute for Sexual Health.

Forming Character in Our Families
How can we foster good habits and integrity in the real and virtual worlds? A Parent Discussion with Rosemary Cook and Colleen Tocci

Rosemary Cook is a former history teacher and Director of College Counseling at Montrose School. Rosemary and her husband just welcomed their forty-first grandchild into the family. A highly sought-after speaker, She has lectured at numerous conferences on family and family-related issues. Currently Mrs. Cook serves as an advisor at Montrose and runs Camp Mattakeesett, a summer camp for young girls.

Colleen Tocci is a registered nurse who worked in the medical and surgical field before raising her four children. Mrs. Tocci taught high school theology at Montrose and has been a beloved advisor for nearly twenty years. Most recently, Colleen has been involved in directing leadership symposia for girls, at the high school level.

Single Sex Education: Why it Works

Dr. Bohlin is author of three books, Building Character in Schools (with K. Ryan) San Francisco: Jossey-Bass, 1999, its companion Resource Guide (with D. Farmer and K. Ryan) 2001, and Teaching Character Education Through Literature: Awakening the Moral Imagination, London: Routledge Falmer, 2005. A former professor of education at Boston University, she is currently a senior scholar at their Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character. She has co-edited a book on higher education and citizenship and has published work in the Journal of the Association of Teacher Education, Education Week, and the Journal of Education. Dr. Bohlin has served as an educational advisor on the national, state and local levels and is a member of the National Schools of Character Blue Ribbon Panel.
