Character Development

LifeCompass Character and Leadership Program
Every aspect of a Montrose experience helps girls to build a life compass, one that orients their minds toward truth (veritas), their hearts toward authentic friendship and noble ambition (caritas), and their hands toward free and responsible action (libertas), empowering them to navigate any challenge or opportunity.
Montrose School
One of the first 10 schools nationwide to receive the National Schools of Character Award
At Montrose, girls learn good habits of mind and character. We help each student to develop the character virtues and intellectual virtues she needs to flourish.

Character development is an integral part of everything we do at Montrose. Our goal is to help parents educate their daughters to become mature, well-rounded individuals who possess both intellectual competence and personal integrity. The success of this endeavor is one of the most important contributions we can make to help secure their future success and happiness.

While we are committed to sustaining a culture of family and friendship and to attracting and retaining outstanding faculty and staff who embrace our mission, there are several specific ways we keep character formation a central part of the Montrose program. These components – the Advising Program, CLDs, LifePortraits Speaker Series, Service and daily Enrichment – combined with the overall Montrose experience all cooperate to bring out the very best in each young woman.
