New Math Options

With attention to every student, Montrose expands its accelerated math option.
Montrose School is expanding its accelerated math offerings for advanced math students. The signature program, introduced in two different grades last year, has been expanded to students in four grades.

“We introduced this new, accelerated math option last year for some girls whose work indicated the need for additional challenge,” said Academic Dean Katherine Ginnetty. “These faster-paced courses will allow these girls to move more quickly through the math sequence so they could be ready for AP Calculus BC or other advanced topics in their senior year.”

Montrose’s unique and proven program includes attention to every student’s individual needs. “At Montrose, every student is known and her work recognized and evaluated, so that her teachers can respond with appropriate challenges,” said Mrs. Ginnetty.

Research has shown “the benefits of mentoring, close relationships with adults, [and] an all-female environment in promoting girls’ interest and achievement in science and math,” as noted in Sociology of Education
