Artwork Featured in Concord

Three AP Studio Art students design an installation of middle and upper school artwork in historic Concord.
AP Studio Art students Molly Bowman '18, Elizabeth Ling '18 and Adriana Della Camera '18 recently designed and implemented an art installation in historic Concord.

The installation features historical architectural drawings by members of the class of 2022, which they created after reading Little Women in Literature 7 last year. The cross-curricular project united art and literature.

Upper school AP students expanded the historical Concord theme with their own unique interpretations of the subject, including the consideration of literature, geography, architecture and history. "The girls manipulated non-traditional art materials such as maps and book pages to express the theme," said AP Studio Art teacher Christina Marge.

The AP art students considered such factors as light, visiility and the integrity of the artwork when designing the installation, in a loft space in an ice cream shop in West Concord. Montrose parent Kaz Piorkowski '10 '22 contributed by building the frames for the artwork.

The installation will be on display in Reasons to Be Cheerful, 110 Commonwealth Avenue in Concord, through the end of November. "I hope many Montrose families will have the opportunity to enjoy this lovely display of student art," said Mrs. Marge.
