August 2, 2007 Dear Montrose Parents: Welcome back! We have welcomed several new faculty and staff to Montrose this year including: Ms. Kathy Dollason, our new French teacher and Athletic Director, hales from Charleston, SC. Most recently, she has taught French I-IV and developed the department's program at John Paul II High School in Tennessee. She also coached volleyball and lacrosse and served as Sports Information Director for their large athletic program. Kathy earned her undergraduate degree in International Business from Wofford College and her Master's in French from Middlebury College. She loves playing volleyball and her new home team, the Boston Red Sox. Mrs. Katherine Ginnetty will join our history department teaching Ancient Civilizations 8 and 20th Century History 12. Mrs. Ginnetty earned her BA in government and history from Smith College and her MBA from Providence College. She is currently pursing a Master’s in Education. She has taught at all levels—elementary, secondary and college—and has spent the last several years teaching Latin and Oratory at the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School, a school which she helped to found. She brings a wealth of teaching, curriculum development and administrative leadership experience to Montrose. Ms. Elizabeth (Betsy) Keefe will serve as Assistant Athletic Director and Administrative Assistant to the Head. Ms. Keefe earned her undergraduate degree in theology and philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, where she helped found the university’s first co-ed a cappella group. She loves teaching and coaching and has led summer programs for middle school girls in Chicago and the Bronx. A Montrose alumna and three sport athlete she is enthusiastic about returning and keeping our traditions alive. She will coach soccer and basketball and help with yearbook. Dr. Edwina Maksym, our new Academic Dean, will teach Modern European History 11. Dr. Maksym has taught for over twenty years and served as Academic Dean at the Oakcrest School in McLean, VA before moving to Boston. There, she spearheaded the expansion of the Advanced Placement offerings, developed the curriculum for the school as it grew, and led their mentoring and professional development program for faculty. She has a breadth of experience working with parents and teachers as well as advising students. Dr. Maksym earned her undergraduate degree in English from Emmanuel College and both her Master’s and PhD from the University of Maryland College Park. Mrs. Elizabeth (Liz) Morrison joins us as our new Registrar and Academic Records Administrator. She will also work with Mrs. McKinney and serve as our Assistant Dean of Students. Mrs. Morrison served as Clinical Research Associate on several major projects at Massachusetts General Hospital and a local biotech firm. Liz brings experience in statistical analysis, project management and research. She earned her BA in psychology from Loyola College. She loves to travel and is looking forward to returning to a school setting. Mrs. Heather P. Roy is our new Admissions Associate, working with Patti Keefe. An avid athlete and former sports television producer Mrs. Roy will also coach Varsity Cross Country. Heather is the former Associate Director of Admissions at the Hillside School, where she also coached lacrosse and served as a dorm parent. She earned her undergraduate degree in Economics and Russian from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Mrs. Roy loves math, is a marathon runner, great outdoors person and a soccer, squash and lacrosse player.
