A brilliant mezzo-soprano, recently graduated from one of the nation's top performing arts colleges, Hailey McAvoy '13 continues to mesmerize audiences with her musical ability despite the challenges she faces due to cerebral palsy.
Hailey has been selected to perform in the highly selective vocal programs at
The Tanglewood Institute
Franz Schubert Institute, Austria
All-State and All-Eastern musical competitions
Hailey's dream is to perform the role of Octavian in Strauss' comic opera, Der Rosenkavalier, which would require her to descend a flight of stairs on stage without the use of a bannister. Hailey receives physical therapy in order to achieve this dream.
Hailey's passion for opera and her tenacity in pursuing her goals were fueled early on at Montrose. "Montrose encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and instilled in me the work ethic and discipline necessary to be an aspiring opera singer."
