How to Apply

The Application Process, Step by Step

Thank you for considering Montrose School for your daughter! Come get to know us by contacting the Admission Office to set up a tour. We have outlined the application process step by step here in order to assist you. Please contact Director of Admission Kelly Melley to find out more.

How to Apply

Montrose School uses Ravenna, a web-based application which students can use to submit online inquiries and applications. With Ravenna, you can request teacher evaluations, arrange to send us your transcript, check your application progress and submit your application.

To learn more about the Montrose admission process, please click on each of the steps below.

List of 5 items.

  • Step 1: Create a Ravenna account

To start the application process, please complete and submit our online inquiry form. This will direct you to create an account with Ravenna. Please be sure to choose an email address for an account that you check frequently, as you will receive multiple important communications via email. After you set up your account, you can create your daughter's profile and then choose "Montrose School" from the school directory.
  • Step 2: Attend an Admissions event

Learn more about Montrose School at an Admissions Event or by visiting our campus and taking a tour. Or click here to provide your contact information, and our staff will follow up with you.
  • Step 3: Schedule a student and parent interview and tour

Each applicant should schedule an appointment for a tour and interview. You may choose to meet either virtually or in-person for your tour and interview.

Interview: Both students and parents will meet with an admission representative. Students will also complete a short writing sample.

Please schedule through Ravenna or contact the Admission Office.
  • Step 4: Register for an entrance exam

ISEE: Girls entering grades 6-8 should take the ISEE*.

    • Click here for the ISEE website. Please designate Montrose as a recipient of the official score. Montrose’s school code is 220454.  *For Boston Exam School applicants, we will also accept the NWEA MAP test.
SSAT: Girls entering grades 9-12 should take the SSAT**.

    • Click here for the SSAT website. Please designate Montrose as a recipient of the official score. Montrose’s school code is 5150.
**Applicants to Grade 9 may alternatively submit the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT), while PSAT/ACT/SAT scores will fulfill the testing requirement for applicants to Grades 10 and 11.

Both tests offer at-home versions, which also fulfill the entrance exam requirement.
  • Step 5: Submit your application

Please fill out your online application using Ravenna. The priority application deadline is February 1. For families who have completed the process by the priority deadline, admission decisions will be released March 10. After February 1, applications will be accepted as space is available.

    The application includes:
    • Transcript from the applicant’s current school
    • Recommendations from English and math teachers who are currently teaching the applicant or who have had the most recent association with the applicant in a school environment in these subjects
    • Recommendation from school guidance counselor
    • Optional non-academic recommendation forms by people closely associated with the applicant outside of her school environment (for example, family friend, church leader or sports or fine/performing arts coach)
    • Parent statement
    • Student essay
    • $50 application fee
Please contact the Admission Office at any point during the application process. We are happy to help you in any way we can!

What's Next?

We know that even after you have completed the application and visited Montrose, you may still have questions. Contact the Admission Office at any time. We may be able to help you by:
  • Inviting you or your daughter to come for another visit, take another tour, or sit in on another interview or class
  • Pairing you up with a current parent or your daughter with a current student, who can answer your questions or who came to Montrose from a similar town, school, or circumstance
  • Inviting you to an upcoming school event of interest to you and your daughter, such as a school play or a special talk in our Parent Enrichment or LifeCompass Speaker Series

Decision

Decisions are released on Ravenna on March 10.

We invite all accepted students and their families to celebrate this great accomplishment at an event in their honor. Admitted Students Night is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to come together to meet one another as well as current students, teachers and administrators. In addition, we offer Revisit Days, in which accepted students may come for a visit and take another look at Montrose School.
