Seniors Honored at Statehouse

Two Montrose seniors receive awards for their writing from Massachusetts Center for the Book.
Aine Ford '18 received honors for her letter to author Madeline Miller about her debut novel, “The Song of Achilles.” State Rep. Carolyn Dykema awarded a Statehouse citation to Aine.

Anneka Ignatius '18 received honors for her letter to author Lewis Carroll about “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” State Sen. Richard Ross awarded a Senate citation to Anneka and State Rep. Shawn Dooley was present to personally congratulate her.

Aine and Anneka were among only 30 students statewide to be honored for their writing at the awards ceremony, held in the Reading Room of the State Library by Massachusetts Center for the Book.

Massachusetts Center for the Book is a public-private partnership that aims to advance the cause of books and reading. Their Letters About Literature program invites young readers to write letters to authors about books that have made an impact on them, reflecting on the ways in which books have come alive for them.
