Welcome Back, Mavericks!

Montrose kicks off the school year with a fun and purposeful opening day dedicated to building community and connection.
Montrose welcomed a student body of 207 students, including 63 new students. International students from the United Kingdom, China, Andorra, Spain, Mexico, Chile, and South Korea joined local students representing more than 50 towns.

Icebreakers, Mass and All School Assembly
The day began with an extended homeroom, where students broke the ice through games and getting to know you activities. Mass in the chapel followed. Head of School Dr. Karen Bohin spoke to students at an all-school assembly, where she shared with the girls several tips from Chaplain Emeritus Richard Rieman for making the most of the year ahead: "Trust God. Smile and say hello to everyone in your path, and lean on your guardian angel."

Dr. Bohlin reminded the girls, "We're part of something much greater than ourselves. Our call to greatness reminds us every day who we are and who we're called to be, living up to the tremendous ideals on the Montrose school seal - caritas, libertas, veritas, love, freedom, truth."

Year of Connection & Traditional Montrose Handshake
During the assembly, representatives from Student Government announced the school year theme: connection. Swiftly launching this theme into practice, students lined up for a beloved Montrose tradition: the opening day handshake. Faculty and returning students greeted every new student individually, ensuring that from the very first day all Montrose students are seen and welcomed fully.
