Remembering Brian O'Connell

The school's new business manager and CFO passes away in Worcester on October 18.
"Brian O'Connell was a consummate gentleman with an enormous spirit of generosity, wisdom and unparalleled kindness," said Karen E. Bohlin, Head of School. "This is a devastating loss. We are honored to have worked alongside him for this brief time."

Mr. O'Connell joined Montrose in late August 2019. A longtime leader in Worcester who served on private and public school boards, he dedicated his life to education. "It was a privilege and blessing to have him join our school community," said Dr. Bohlin. "He shared wisdom and warmth and made a special mark here in a very short time."

In the Worcester Telegram, Mr. O'Connell's colleague on the Worcester School Committe described him as "the example of dignity and integrity." On the Worcester Academy website, where he attended and served on the Board of Trustees, he was remembered as "a dedicated and iconic presence."

"We ask our community to pray for the repose of Brian's soul and for his family and friends at this difficult time," said Dr. Bohlin.
