The Montrose varsity basketball team had another remarkable season, finishing the regular season with a 13-4 record. After winning the IGC Division 1 Championship for the second consecutive year in a row, the team advanced to the first round of the New England Class D Tournament. “It was a huge accomplishment for our athletic program to compete at this level,” said Athletic Director Julie (Ruggieri) Boynton.

Colleen Casey ‘22 was featured in the Boston Globe as the Independent Girls Conference (IGC) League MVP and an IGC All-Star. Colleen led the team in steals (5 per game) and was second in points this season. Montrose athletes have captured 9 conference MVP honors over the last 3 years.

Sophie Cronin ‘23 was named All New England (NEPSAC Class D) and an IGC All-Star. She was the team’s leading scorer, averaging 12 points per game.

Devyn Gianino ‘20 was named an IGC All-Star and led the team in assists.

Sophie Kocho ‘20 was named All New England (NEPSAC Class D). Although she missed the last 6 regular season games, prior to her injury, Sophie led the team in rebounds and was second on the team in points and assists. This is her second consecutive year as a NEPSAC All-Star.

“This season was a huge stepping stone for our program and put our school on the map in the larger NEPSAC league,” said Mrs. Boynton. “I am really excited to see what the future has in store for us. We will miss our seniors tremendously and cannot thank them enough for their leadership this season. With the talent we have returning for next season and many more years to come, I am confident that we will continue to add to that championship banner in the A&A!”
