Sophomore initiates virtual story time

Emma Barry '22 spends her lunch break serving Spanish-speaking children in her hometown.
When Emma discovered the need for Spanish-speaking programming for residents in her hometown of Millis, she teamed up with the youth services librarian to launch a weekly Spanish story time.

"I wanted to find a way to be of service during this pandemic," said Emma. "Since there is a Spanish immersion program in Millis, I saw the perfect opportunity to practice my Spanish and bring children who are struggling to learn from home the joy of story time."

Every Thursday, Emma uses her lunch break from distance learning at Montrose to livestream her Spanish story time on Facebook. Her story time reached more than 400 people in the first week. Watch now.
