6th Grader Honored by Girl Scouts

Gabriella Dansereau ‘26 is awarded the Mary Medal after leading a fundraiser that raised $10,000 to build churches in Africa.
Gabriella led three community service initiatives as part of her year-long project on “Mary, The First Disciple” for Eastern Massachusetts Girl Scout Troop 73848.  She will be awarded the Mary Medal in a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

She raised nearly $10,000 selling rosaries for Build the Faith, a non-profit organization. The monies raised will be used to construct churches, convents, and organizations in Africa and South America and to aid youth conferences in the U.S.

In another project, Gabriella created a Twitter feed (@Rise_to_Strength) to encourage friendship. This feed allows people to come together, inspire one another, share messages of kindness and develop friendships. She also served as a greeter at the family Mass at St. Paul Parish in Wellesley.

The year-long Mary Medal program includes study of Mary’s relationship with God and her role as the mother of Jesus.
