Congratulations Class of 2020

Montrose bid farewell to the historic class of 2020 in a joyful, socially-distanced ceremony.
In the first-ever August Commencement, the School celebrated and praised the graduates for their hard work, perseverance and ability to adapt during these unprecedented times.

Commencement speaker Melanie Francis P '16, Vice President and Chief of Staff in the Office of the CEO at Akamai, reminded the graduates that they were well prepared for 2020 by their rich liberal arts education at Montrose. Watch now.

"Montrose has cultivated a mindset in you that has prepared you to be the leaders this world desperately needs you to be,” she said. “And it's time to go out into this world to face these challenges with the virtues you have learned to live, and the talents God has given you to hone. As a class, and as individuals, I know you are ready to lead the way as you set forth beyond this place of joy, to encounter a world undergoing rapid transformation."

Mrs. Francis continued, "At Montrose, you have been called to greatness. You have been shown countless examples of what greatness is... and what greatness is meant to be. And you remain on that very path to greatness. Do not lose sight of that. Aspire to achieve greatness while upholding the virtue of grace -- exhibiting kindness and compassion in the grace you give while also being receptive to the gift of grace from God."

According to Montrose tradition, Head of School Dr. Karen Bohlin spoke personally about each graduate, relating anecdotes which revealed each girl’s strengths, accomplishments and character. The graduates, dressed in white and carrying red roses, cheered one another as each classmate rose to receive her diploma.

The 21 members of the Class of 2020 were admitted to a wide variety of excellent institutions.

Congratulations and good luck to the Class of 2020!
