Montrose School has welcomed international students since its inception. Each year several students are accepted to study for a year or a semester. Recently, students have come from Spain, Mexico, Chile, Guatemala, Venezuela, Italy, France, Germany, Korea, and China. Our current domestic students frequently visit their international classmates in their home countries during summer vacation.
Students who come from abroad live with host families and participate in school activities, sports and family events. They are expected to arrive a week before the start of school and remain until mid-December or until the end of the academic year in June.
Please fill out your online application using Ravenna. The application for international students should be submitted by March 15.
The application includes:
Transcript from the applicant’s current school
Recommendations from English and math teachers who are currently teaching the applicant or who have had the most recent association with the applicant in a school environment in these subjects
Recommendation from school guidance counselor
Optional non-academic recommendation form by a person closely associated with the applicant outside of her school environment (for example, a coach, family friend, or church leader)
TOEFL scores, using the Montrose School code for the TOEFL: B434
$100 application fee
If you have difficult completing the forms electronically through Ravenna, please contact Patti Keefe to receive a hard copy of the required application pieces. These can be emailed to us or faxed to us at 508-359-2597.
Each international applicant and her parents must complete separate interviews either over the phone or using Skype or a similar video-messaging system. The interview is an opportunity for the parents and the student to introduce themselves, demonstrate their English-speaking skills, and have any questions about Montrose answered. Please contact the Admissions Office to schedule your interviews.
