IMAGINATION & INVENTION
The mission of the Arts Department at Montrose School is to enrich and support each student’s learning experience by providing unique opportunities for personal and intellectual development and self-expression through the study of music, drama, and the visual arts.
Through creative exploration, the Fine and Performing Arts teach skills associated with imagination and invention and can lead students to higher levels of abstract thought. The department seeks fully to engage each student intellectually, emotionally, and physically, with the understanding that the Arts are essential to the enlightened life and mind of the individual.

PERFORMING ARTS
Through the nurturing of creativity, experimentation and respect for the efforts and ideas of others, our performing arts program:
- Fosters an environment conducive to the personal, intellectual, character, faith and leadership development of every student.
- Models theater as an organic, collaborative creative process that values not just the end product, but also the process of how the work is done
- Appreciates the transformative power of art and beauty as it transcends music, storytelling and performance
- Cultivates lifelong skills such as communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving

"I always dreamed of acting but was too frightened to try until my mentor encouraged me. Since then, I've been in 7 Montrose productions, founded the Film Club, and started the production of a limited TV series which is scheduled to be on Amazon Prime." - Abbie L. '24
