Experience the World with Montrose

There are many trips to Europe for students interested in gaining first-hand knowledge of another culture, but they seem to have one problem in common: they urge students to see everything and contemplate nothing. Unfortunately, these whirlwind trips are only remembered in photographs of edifices students can neither name nor appreciate.
Study abroad at Montrose is different.

  • In the Footsteps of Dante

In the Footsteps of Dante is a study abroad experience in Italy offered to juniors and seniors every other year. An integrated seminar and tour, it gives students a chance to view, study and contemplate great works of renaissance art and architecture.  The tour explores the following:

    • an historical overview of Medieval and Renaissance Florence
    • changing political situation in Florence during Dante's life
    • an introduction to Divine Comedy
    • the art of Florence and area sites including San Gimignano, Siena and Rome
  • Sister School Exchange Trip to Ireland

This exchange trip is offered to 9th and 10th grade students every year, in coordination with Rosemont, our sister school in Dublin. In the fall, participants host a Rosemont student, and in the spring they travel to Ireland to live with that student's family. On the ten-day journey, students will:
    • Experience four days in an Irish secondary school, with exposure to Irish literature, language and history as well as extracurriculars such as netball, Camogie, Gaelic football and sailing.
    • Visit Belfast and the Titanic Museum
    • Explore the Dublin area with day trips to places like Trinity College, the National Gallery of Ireland, Dun Laoghaire, an Irish Céilí and more.
