DOING ORDINARY THINGS EXTRAORDINARILY WELL
For nearly 50 years, Montrose has been calling girls to greatness through a transformational education, built upon the foundation that every student is unique, unrepeatable anc called by God to discover her noble purpose.
OUR MISSION
Montrose educates young women to pursue the truth in all they do. Built upon the foundation of a rich liberal arts curriculum, personal character formation and collaboration with parents, a Montrose education challenges each student to cultivate intellect and character, leadership and service, faith and reason.
our philosophy
Guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirit of Opus Dei, Montrose educates the whole person. Veritas, Caritas, Libertas emblazoned across the school’s shield draw the ideals of a Montrose education into focus. We believe in the importance of educating young women in an environment that fosters virtues of mind and character, respects the dignity of all people and teaches that ordinary things can be done extraordinarily well for the love of God. We believe that education is the primary responsibility of parents supported by professional educators. Together, we challenge young women to develop self-knowledge, serve others, strengthen their convictions and use their freedom responsibly.
Our History
The greatness to which we call our students and alumnae began nearly 50 years ago.
In 1979, a group of Harvard Business School classmates and parents joined three leading international women educators with an audacious goal: to build a world-class school for girls in grades 6-12.
Our founders understood the importance of these most formative years. They understood that parents know and love their children best and that great educational power can be leveraged when parents partner with their child’s school. And they understood that work has meaning.
Here, our students come to appreciate what St. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei, shared with the world:
That divine greatness can be discovered in ordinary activities – from classwork to sports to friendships and clubs.
That same spirit permeates the walls of Montrose School and the heart of our community. Our girls learn to do ordinary things extraordinarily well and, through that process, find greatness within themselves and others.
“Any job, no matter how hidden, no matter how insignificant, when offered to the Lord, is charged with the strength of God’s life!”
Saint Josemaría Escrivá, The Forge
