Experience the World with Montrose
Montrose calls students to greatness as they engage the world. We provide multiple international travel options every year, open to students in grades 8-12 , for girls to study, learn, grow and serve abroad. Options include
- International exchanges with one of our network of sister schools around the globe
- An annual service trip to the Dominican Republic in partnership with Mustard Seed
- Our signature study abroad trip to Italy, In the Footsteps of Dante
sisterhood around the world
Montrose takes advantage of its network of sister schools around the globe, across six continents. Our students have traveled to stay with families and attend classes at sister schools in Ireland, France, Spain, Guatemala and Mexico. These include both cultural exchanges and language immersion experiences. Montrose, in turn, has hosted students from sister schools in these countries and beyond.
alternative spring break
Honoring the unique dignity of each person and serving the common good lie at the heart of the Montrose School mission. Upper school students regularly dedicate their spring break to care for the most vulnerable through our traditional service trip to the Dominican Republic with Mustard Seed Communities. During this transformational trip, girls help care for the disabled residents at the community and work on the facility.
"I will never forget my service trip experience and the bonds we made with the children. They never complain — it is eye-opening. The trip made me think about who I want to be and how I want to live." — Alex C. '18
study abroad in italy
There are many trips to Europe for students interested in gaining first-hand knowledge of another culture, but they seem to have one problem in common: they urge students to see everything and contemplate nothing. Unfortunately, these whirlwind trips are only remembered in photographs of edifices students can neither name nor appreciate.
Our unique tradition, In the Footsteps of Dante, is different. Led by a college professor, students learn about great works of Renaissance art and architecture before exploring Florence and other cities in this integrated seminar and tour.
“Before leaving for Italy, we studied Dante's life, his inspirations and, perhaps most importantly, his Inferno. Seeing his tomb in Rome was the perfect finish to our study.” — Brooke H. ’19
