Hats off to our incredible Class of 2026! 

Montrose School’s Commencement was last Friday, and we couldn’t be prouder of our graduated scholars. There was much to celebrate, including the 20th anniversary of our illustrious art faculty member, Christina Marge. According to Montrose tradition, Head of School Katie Elrod gave a personal tribute to every member of the senior class. This cohort of inspiring young women is launching into the world with the good habits of mind, heart and character they need to discover their noble purpose and change the world for the good.

As our Commencement Speaker, Jenny Driver, MD, MPh, said in her address:

The world needs people who know how to connect and how to think, who can ask the right questions — and then listen — and then act. Your family, your faith and your Montrose education have given you a life compass. … And you have a question: what matters most? Take it with you. Ask it of yourself when you lose your way. Ask it of the people you are called to serve. It will set you on the right path every time.

Valedictorian Carolina Florez, who will be entering the University of Notre Dame in the fall, exhorted her classmates:

“Our impact on the world will not come from one defining moment. It will come from the small things we repeatedly choose to do: the courage to ask hard questions, the willingness to listen, and the decision to build community rather than division.”

Salutatorian Kendra Baker, who is heading to the University of California, Los Angeles, shared her fondest memories with her classmates. 

“I know this group of girls will go on to do incredible things, and that we will always have a collection of smart, dedicated, and kind people to go to whenever we need someone to laugh with, cry with, or anything in between.”
