Montrose Athletic Director Caroline Langhurst spent her summer vacation coaching Team Ireland in the 2026 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan!
Ireland finished 11th in the world with a very young team, after exciting victories against Chinese Taipei and Wales.
After the final game of the tournament, Caroline was honored with the Spirit of Lacrosse award for the Irish national team. This prestigious award is bestowed upon an individual from each team who has made the most significant contribution to the team’s program and its success. The recipient of the award receives a Daruma doll, symbolizing the pursuit and achievement of goals.
“I am not surprised by the award recognizing Caroline’s magnanimous and outstanding leadership,” said Head of School Katie Elrod. “The Irish are blessed to have her, as are we at Montrose.”
Caroline has led the Montrose Athletics Department through a period of growth and expansion, including the construction of two brand-new regulation-sized turf fields. The Montrose varsity lacrosse team has won the league championship for five straight years.
