students Embark on Polish and Spanish Exchange Programs
Poland
Montrose puts students in the driver's seat of their own education. Through our international sister school network, we offer a broad variety of study abroad programs for students starting in 8th grade. This fall we embarked on our first international exchange with Montrose's sister school, Strumienie Liceum in Józefów, Poland!
A group of 8th and 9th graders enjoyed an11-day immersion experience into Polish culture, history, and independence. As a part of their experience, the students all:
- Deepened friendships with their Polish "sister students."
- Explored Warsaw, Krakow, the Presidential Palace and the home of St. John Paul II.
- Taught English games to younger students at Strumienie.
- Sampled “the best pierogies in Krakow!” (A crucial educational experience, of course!)
We can't wait to welcome our new friends from Strumienie when they return the visit in March 2026!
Spain
Nine Montrose 8th-grade students traveled to Bilbao, Spain for 12 days to experience school life at Ayalde School as a part of our exchange program, as well as the warmth and hospitality of many local host families! It was the trip of a lifetime. During their time in Bilbao, our students had the chance to:
- Take a guided tour of the modern Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao
- Do some hands-on learning at the Balenciaga Fashion House Museum in Getaria
- Explore the biodiversity of Spain at the Ekoetxea Urdabai nature conservation center
We are excited to welcome students from Ayalde to Montrose in March 2026!
