This summer, experiential learning and adventure meet at Montrose Summer Academy! Our unique summer courses are designed to help students discover passions, build connections and deepen skills -- all while having fun and learning from our talented faculty, staff and alumni. From field hockey skills to Taylor Swift's poetic lyrics, science adventures to performing arts, students will develop their habits of mind, heart and character in ways that help them flourish within and beyond the classroom.

The Montrose Summer Academy is coed and open to both Montrose students and the broader community. Run by our experienced faculty, staff and alumnae, the classes are designed to engage students who enjoy working in a small group atmosphere. All classes are intentional in size to maximize instruction. Waitlists will be available. All  classes will be taught on the beautiful Montrose School campus.

    As you listen to Taylor Swift songs, you’ll learn to analyze her compelling literary devices and techniques that allow her to tell stories through song.     The show must go on . . . but how? Ever wondered what goes on behind the curtain to make a show come alive? Now's your chance to find out! In this behind-the-scenes class, students will learn the importance of stage management, costuming, managing props, set design and directing. They will discover firsthand what it takes to bring a production to life as they explore the inner workings of theatrical productions.

    An engaging and interactive Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) in a class tailored specifically for kids! Designed to be both fun and educational, this course is perfect for children who are eager to learn a new language and connect with the Deaf community.
    They will learn the basics of ASL, including the alphabet and fingerspelling, how to introduce themself, common phrases, customs in Deaf culture, and how to sign along to songs!

    A cool new blend of technology and crocheting come together to create a pixelated blanket - each crocheted square is a pixel from your own selected image. Learn what pixelation is, how to work with the images on a computer and the basics of crocheting.

Young nature enthusiasts will spend a week exploring the birds native to Massachusetts and learning the art of bird identification, observation techniques, and the importance of conservation efforts. You'll use technology to identify birds in your own yard, create bird-inspired art projects, build bluebird houses, and visit the Blue Hill Trailside Museum in Milton. Every moment promises an unforgettable adventure in the company of our feathered friends.
