IGC Finals for Varsity Basketball

The Mavericks reach the final game after defeating Landmark in IGC semi-finals.
The Mavericks completed an outstanding varsity basketball season, going 8-2 in the league. In the Independent Girls Conference tournament semi-finals, the team decisively defeated Landmark School, 31-19. They fell to perennial rival Gann Academy at Gann in the IGC finals.

After the semi-final game, the last home game of the year, the team honored senior captains Ciara Dunn '18 and Therese Schickel '18.

The Looking Glass reported:

Coach Julie Ruggieri praised co-captains Ciara and Therese as "two of the hardest working members of the team -- the definition of leadership." ...[She] reflected on the Mavericks' impressive season. She said, "What has struck me the most is...the general respect that our players have for their coaches, their teammates, and their opponents. I was blown away that, fter the first tryout, every girl came up to me and individually thanked me after practice. In all my years of coaching at the high school level, I have never expereineced that before. I was touched; and, on my drive home after the first day, I realized that is what sets us apart as a school."
