Five students win honors at the regional level, with 2 advancing to the state competition.
Neha Sunkara '21 earned first place and Grace Gulbankian '21 won third place at the Massachusetts regional competition. Each one entered a Senior Individual Exhibit, in keeping with the 2018 National History Day theme, "Conflict and Compromise in History." Neha and Grace will compete at the state level next.
In addition, Anna Bachiochi '20 and Celia Roberto '20 received Honorable Mention for their Senior Group Website. Maeivs Fahey '21 won a special Frederick Douglass Award for her paper, "The Forgotten American Movement: The Consequences of Racism and Persecution."
National History Day is an interdisciplinary research project for middle and high school students, encouraging exploration of local, state, national and world history. More than half a million students participate in the contest annually.
