Seniors Commit to Division I Athletic Programs

Two Montrose student athletes have committed to compete for Division I schools. Gabriella Bachiochi '21 will run for Boston College in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and Ciara Scamby '21 joins the Holy Cross Crusaders diving team, a Patriot League member.
Along with joining Boston College's Division I Track and Field program, Gabriella is one of only 20 students accepted to the school's Human Centered Engineering program that is launching next year. Montrose Varsity Track and Field Coach Jill Kerr is thrilled for Gabriella. "Boston College competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the ACC is, in my opinion, one of the two highest level athletic conferences in the NCAA.  It doesn’t get better than this," she said, adding that Gabriella's "commitment to run at BC is a reflection of our growing track program, but more importantly, a reflection of the whole-person education she received at Montrose."

Ciara is a member of ZAP Diving, a club team coached by two-time Olympic medalist Mary Ellen Clark. A resident of Ashland, Ciara took up competitive diving in February 2020 after 10 years as a gymnast and two years of all star cheerleading. She particularly enjoys front 2.5s, back 1.5s, and twisting dives and looks forward to being a part of the Crusaders Swimming and Diving team. Ciara noted, "I am so excited to be competing at Holy Cross with a team again, as that is what I miss the most about gymnastics. I will take the hard-working habits I gained from my Montrose education with me to college -- not only for diving, but for classes as well!"

Each year, Montrose sends graduates off to compete in college athletic programs, from soccer and volleyball to diving and track and field. Find out more about how Montrose athletes are called to greatness.
