Montrose Wins Computer Science Award

For the fifth year in a row, Montrose earns the College Board's AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award - one of only 64 schools in the U.S. to win for two classes.
The College Board honored Montrose for its high number of female students enrolled in two different AP Computer Science courses. 24 Montrose students are enrolled in either AP Computer Science A or AP Principles of Computer Science, which are open to girls beginning in 9th grade.

Out of more than 15,000 secondary schools worldwide that offer AP courses, Montrose is one of only 64 to receive the Female Diversity Award for both AP Computer Science classes on offer -- and one of only 4 in Massachusetts.

The Award honors Montrose's efforts to expand young women’s access to AP computer science classes. This honor points to one of many opportunities that set Montrose students on a course for success in our classrooms now, and positions our seniors for admission to the nation’s top universities and colleges.

"After trying out AP Computer Science Principles my junior year at Montrose, I ended up loving it," said Neha Sunkara '21, Cornell University '25. "I would not have ended up studying computer science at Cornell if it weren't for the class at Montrose."
