On Friday Montrose faculty enjoyed a workshop with Assistent Professor of Patristics in the Honors College at Baylor University, Michael Foley. His areas of specialty are Patristics (the study of the Fathers of the Church) and the political, philosophical, and theological thought of St. Augustine of Hippo. Among the many articles and books he has published, Mike recently served as editor of the second edition of Frank Sheed's classic translation of Augustine's Confessions. The 12th grade Theology class will be reading this next month. In addition, his interest in popular culture has led him to write phenomenal and very readable essays on the philosophical and theological significance of the Truman Show and Groundhog Day. Another recently published book is a popular reference guide called Why Do Catholics Eat Fish on Friday? The Catholic Origin to Just About Everything. Mike received his doctorate in Theology from Boston College in 1999.
