Melissa McCarthy '14 wins World Irish Dancing Championships in Belfast.
Melissa McCarthy '14 recently competed in the World Irish Dancing Championships in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she took first place in her age division. Melissa is now world champion!
Commonly referred to as the "Olympics of Irish Dancing", the Worlds Irish Dancing Competition hosts 4300 competitive dancers from the UK, Ireland, US, Australia and Europe.
Qualifying to compete at "Worlds" is a tremendous accomplishment in and of itself. Along with Melissa, two other Montrosians also earned the honor: Melissa's sister, Colleen McCarthy '16, and Emma Schiller '17.
