LifeCompass Institute Speaker: Deborah Farmer Kris

Making Friends with your Inner Voice: How Self-Talk Can Help Teens (and Parents) Flourish

Free and open to the public.

When we face a challenge, our inner voices can support and inspire us. But too often an inner voice can be our harshest critic, flooding us with negative self-talk. Deborah Farmer Kris will share research-based strategies to harness your inner voice, practice self-compassion and tame your mental chatter.
As the LifeCompass Parent Educator, Deborah Farmer Kris consults with Montrose School on its parent education program. Drawing on her decades of experience as a school administrator, speaker and child development expert, she provides practical wisdom and support for parents at school and parent events and workshops. Founder of Parenthood365, Deborah is a columnist and consultant for PBS Kids for Parents and writes about education for MindShift, an NPR learning blog. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post. Deborah holds a BA in English and a BS in Education from Boston University and an MA in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University.
