National Honor Society Inducts 26

Students are lauded for their scholarship, leadership, character and service.
Twenty-six new students were inducted into the DeTore Chapter of the National Honor Society at Montrose School this fall. The current members of NHS were on hand to congratulate the twenty-four juniors and two seniors who qualified for the honor.

The new members were welcomed by NHS advisor Ms. Kate Cusack ’99, who described the important service work performed by NHS members over the past year. NHS Officers Aine Ford '18, Alexandra Rider '18, Nora Clancy '18 and Kiran Kottapalli '18 each spoke about the four attributes central to the mission and philosophy of the National Honor Society: Character, Leadership, Scholarship and Service.

NHS member Olivia Hastie '18 sang the National Anthem, and NHS member Elizabeth Ling '18 provided piano music.

The officers lit five candles - four white ones representing scholarship, leadership, character and service, and one yellow one representing the eternal light of knowledge. Each inductee then received a membership pin from the officers and a rose from one of the senior NHS members, then signed her name in the NHS membership register.

Congratulations to the new members of the DeTore Chapter of the National Honor Society:
